ER316L
SZESHANG
ER316L is also a low-carbon, molybdenum-bearing, austenitic stainless steel filler metal. The "L" signifies its low carbon content range (≤ 0.03%), which is critical for preventing sensitization and intergranular corrosion.
Application
ER316L is used when the base metal is 316, 316L, 317, or similar molybdenum-bearing grades.
Welding 316/316L Stainless Steel Base Metals: This is its most direct and common application—fabricating tanks, pipes, valves, and vessels from Type 316/L stainless.
High-Corrosion Service Environments:
Chemical & Petrochemical Processing: Reactors, piping, and storage for corrosive chemicals.
Pharmaceutical & Food & Beverage: Hygienic tubing, vessels, and process lines where corrosion must be absolutely minimized.
Marine & Offshore: Components exposed to saltwater spray or immersion.
Pulp & Paper Industry: Digesters and bleach plants.
Welding Similar Austenitic Alloys: Used for 317, 316Ti, and sometimes as an upgrade for 304 in more corrosive conditions (though this requires careful design consideration).
